Job Description

State Street Australia is seeking a talented SOX Compliance Manager to join the Financial Control Oversight (FCO) team in Sydney. This role is critical for driving the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program across the organization, ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with regulatory standards. The SOX Compliance Manager will collaborate with accounting teams, business units, and external auditors to develop, document, and assess control measures that mitigate financial reporting risks, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Scope Controls: Oversee enterprise-wide scoping of accounts, disclosures, and third-party providers, assessing both quantitative and qualitative risks.
• Document Processes: Create and maintain detailed process documentation, flowcharts, and risk control matrices to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Test Controls: Evaluate the effectiveness of SOX controls, maintaining high-quality workpapers and adhering to financial reporting standards.
• Stakeholder Communication: Engage with management, external auditors, and internal stakeholders to report compliance findings.
• Remediation: Perform deficiency assessments, support control remediations, and update reporting systems to align with compliance standards.
• Ad Hoc Projects: Provide support for additional projects and audits as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education and Certifications:

• Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or MBA in Finance.
• Certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or CFA are a plus.

Experience:

• 7–10 years in SOX compliance, ideally within financial services or Big 4 environments.
• Experience working with US GAAP, SOX 404, and SEC reporting standards.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Excel, PDF, and Visio.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and make strategic decisions.
