Key Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Leadership Advanced Practice Manager Critical Care
    • Act as a clinical consultant for the healthcare team regarding nursing practices.
    • Monitor and evaluate nursing practices to ensure they meet national standards and are based on the latest evidence.
  2. Program Development:
    • Collaborate with the Clinical Manager to develop quality plans for the department.
    • Set goals that align with the hospital’s overall initiatives and new program developments.
  3. Quality Improvement:
    • Lead efforts to improve patient care based on systematic assessments and evidence-based practices.
    • Conduct quality audits and analyze data to identify trends and improve strategies.
  4. Research and Education:
    • Stay updated with the latest professional literature and research.
    • Promote the use of current evidence in nursing practices and lead educational initiatives for staff.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work with multidisciplinary team members to develop innovative programs.
    • Foster strong relationships within the team to support the adoption of new practices.
  6. Staff Development:
    • Participate in hiring decisions, setting objectives, and performance reviews.
    • Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff to maintain high standards of care.
  7. Technology Integration:
    • Plan and introduce new patient care technology and equipment.
    • Ensure staff are trained to use new tools effectively.
  8. Compliance:
    • Ensure the department complies with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Department of Health (DOH) standards.
    • Lead by example, teaching and coaching staff to maintain compliance.

Required Qualifications

To be eligible for the Advanced Practice Manager Critical Care position, you should meet the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • Master’s Degree: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a related healthcare professional field is required, or you must be within six months of completing your degree.
  • Advanced Certification: Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), or Nurse Practitioner (NP) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Clinical Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience in critical care.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
  • Accreditation Experience: Experience managing and supporting organizational accreditation (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS) is preferred.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management is beneficial.
  • Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications is required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make presentations both internally and externally.
  • Multi-Project Focus: Ability to manage multiple projects and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Complex Environment: Ability to work in a complex, multi-site environment.

Physical Requirements

This role involves both physical and mental demands to ensure the effectiveness of compliance activities:

  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based with some remote communication through virtual meetings. Occasional time in the office may be required for meetings and training.
  • Physical Activity: Ability to sit, stand, and move around the office for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
