Role Purpose
This role’s primary focus is preparing annual financial accounts within agreed timelines and statutory requirements. Additionally, the role may involve:
- Accurately processing clients’ financial data.
- Preparing monthly or quarterly management accounts.
- Handling VAT returns and compliance.
There may be opportunities for AAT/ACCA support for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual financial statements, including statutory accounts, partnership accounts, sole trader accounts, and trust accounts for tax purposes.
- Manage a portfolio of clients effectively.
- Visit client locations to fulfill on-site accounting needs as necessary.
- Occasionally prepare and input client transactions into computerized ledger systems.
- Prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts as required.
- Prepare VAT returns from the financial data provided by clients, including Intrastat and ECC sales lists.
- Complete additional VAT services such as registration, de-registration, and options to tax as needed.
Key Competencies:
- Accuracy: Ensure transactions are handled correctly.
- Judgment: Assess situations and reach suitable conclusions based on available information; effectively communicate with management when unsure.
- Planning and Organization: Ensure deadlines are met, and client portfolios are managed efficiently.
- Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with clients, respond to queries, and maintain flexibility for on-site visits if required.
- IT Skills: Proficient in bookkeeping software, accounts production software, and Excel.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the team.
- Flexibility: Adapt to assist with ad hoc services as they arise.
- Innovation: Utilize technology to improve process efficiencies.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with FRS102, FRS 102 1a, and FRS105.
Qualifications
Education/Qualifications:
- Strong academic background.
- Currently studying towards an ACCA/ACA/AAT qualification or have relevant work experience.
Essential Experience/Skills:
- Prior experience with computerized accounting packages, including cloud-based software.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a larger team.
- Results-oriented with a commitment to meeting and exceeding client expectations through high-quality work.
- Understanding of accounting standards.
