Job Purpose

Burberry seeks a skilled Senior Accountant to join our award-winning accounting team in Leeds. In this role, you will be responsible for completing Record to Report (RTR) tasks across the EMEIA region while actively mentoring junior team members. We seek a subject matter expert committed to personal growth, eager to contribute to various projects, and embracingembracing a continuous improvement mindset. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our EMEIA accounting team and contribute to the broader success of Burberry’s Finance function.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Queen Street, Leeds office. It offers a hybrid work arrangement (two days per week in the office).

Responsibilities

  • Execute and approve RTR transactions and reports.
  • Prepare, review, and approve balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and process owners to identify issues and implement solutions, considering processes and practicalities.
  • Prepare, review, and submit local compliance documents, including statutory accounts, VAT, and periodic tax returns.
  • Address ad hoc queries and conduct analyses as needed.
  • Supervise and train junior accountants, reviewing their work as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Policies, including the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.

Personal Profile

  • Completion or near completion of a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Experience in applying IFRS or local accounting GAAP.
  • Background in a multicurrency environment, with an understanding of how exchange rate fluctuations impact reported results.
  • A solid commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience building and managing complex models and large datasets.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work weekends or public holidays during half-year and year-end periods.
