KPMG’s Incentives, Reliefs & Innovations team comprises experts in tax, engineering, science, and technology, providing top-notch advice across various industries. As one of the largest teams in the field, we are continuously investing in innovation and seeking technology specialists to support our growth.

We are looking for a Senior Manager with a solid information technology background to assist clients with a suite of innovation advisory services, including R&D tax credits, Patent Box, R&D Allowances, Grants, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Engagement Teams: Collaborate with teams to develop methodologies and prepare R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC, ensuring accountability for the quality of work.
  • Client Advisory: Lead meetings with senior IT and financial stakeholders, providing expert guidance on innovation advisory services such as R&D, Patent Box, and Grant Applications.
  • Deliverables Management: Oversee the preparation of both technical and financial elements of client deliverables, ensuring accuracy in reports that detail client activities on complex IT projects for submission to HMRC and funding organizations.
  • Project Leadership: Lead client projects that span both tax and technical workstreams, efficiently managing conflicting resource needs.
  • Technical Excellence: Set an example in client relations, ensuring high technical quality and service delivery while solving complex legislative issues.
  • People Development: Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering their growth within the team.
  • Client Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients while building an internal network within KPMG’s broader tax practice.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue business development opportunities, delivering comprehensive proposals and participating in client pitches.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: An Honours or Post Graduate Degree in an Information Technology-related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of R&D tax legislation as it applies to IT activities, alongside significant industry experience.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and grasp new technical concepts quickly.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities to assist clients in applying complex legislation to real-world scenarios.
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent communication skills to lead technical discussions and convey complex tax concepts to industry professionals unfamiliar with tax definitions of R&D.
  • High-Quality Documentation: Capability to produce professional reports for C-suite stakeholders, demonstrating strong project management and delegation skills.
  • Qualifications: Tax and accounting qualifications (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA) are advantageous but not essential.
