Job Description

As a Mechanical Team Leader, you’ll manage maintenance schedules and lead a dedicated team of tradespeople to support production and reliability. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Area Maintenance Manager and operates on a day shift schedule, Monday to Friday. The position requires overseeing planned maintenance, responding to emergency breakdowns, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of mechanical tradespeople to achieve maintenance and production goals.
  • Supervise and execute planned maintenance tasks, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Planners and the production team to optimize maintenance opportunities.
  • Arrange contractor support as needed for specialized tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical input.
  • Oversee contract services and manage tender processes as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Possesses a Mechanical trade qualification (Fitting Trade).
  • Experience leading mechanical teams within a manufacturing setting, ideally FMCG.
  • Proficiency in CMMS (e.g., MEX, SAP) and knowledge of LEAN manufacturing.
  • Skilled in stakeholder communication and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory compliance.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Mechanical trade qualification is essential.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in mechanical maintenance, ideally in FMCG.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of CMMS systems (MEX/SAP preferred), LEAN methodologies, and safety standards.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
