FHI 360 is seeking a skilled Health and Nutrition Coordinator to join our Crisis Response Team. This essential role operates on the front lines of humanitarian emergencies, focusing on developing and leading technical health and nutrition programming. You will engage in all stages of emergency response—from initial assessment through to transition and recovery phases—ensuring that all activities meet technical standards and respond effectively to the needs of affected populations.

The position is located in Mocha, Yemen, a high-risk area. Applicants are encouraged to research the region and its associated risks before applying.


Responsibilities

  • Emergency Program Leadership: Lead emergency health and nutrition initiatives, ensuring all programs meet high-quality standards and technical specifications.
  • Assessment and Design: Conduct Health and Nutrition assessments with the MEAL team and develop tailored response strategies for various emergency phases.
  • Coordination and Representation: Represent FHI 360 across H&N coordination platforms, building partnerships with local authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs.
  • Resource Mobilization: Support emergency health and nutrition programming through proposal development and concept note drafting.
  • Budget and Procurement: Oversee budget forecasting and manage supply-chain needs in line with FHI 360’s protocols.
  • Staffing and Management: Determine staffing requirements, recruit as necessary, and provide technical guidance to health and nutrition officers, pharmacists, and community supervisors.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with other sectors to create a cohesive and integrated emergency response.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health, Human Development, International Development, Psychology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred; Medical Degree (MD) or Registered Nurse (RN) preferred for health specialties.
  • Experience: 5-8 years in health and nutrition emergency programs, ideally with NGO, UN, or government experience.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of USAID/BHA proposal guidelines, CHS, Sphere standards, and Red Cross/NGO Code of Conduct.
  • Other Requirements: HEAT certification (preferred); prior work in Yemen or the Middle East is advantageous.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in remote, austere conditions; capacity to lift up to 50 lbs; willingness to travel across Yemen up to 25%.
