Overall Purpose

This dynamic role invites you to join a robust Accounting and Business Advisory (ABA) team located in the North-East and Yorkshire. Our ABA team is divided into three sub-teams: Accounting, Insight and Advisory (AIA), Financial Strategic Advisory (FAS), and Accounting and Financial Reporting (AFR).

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage and oversee the Accounting, Insight, and Advisory (AIA) team, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Client Portfolio Management: Oversee a diverse portfolio of clients, including budgeting, cost management, and billing, primarily in accordance with FRS 102 and FRS 105.
• Secondment Opportunities: Provide finance function support to clients through possible secondments.
• Team Development: Coach, train, and mentor team members to enhance their skills and facilitate their professional growth.
• Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for your portfolio of clients, consistently upholding the principles of excellent client service.
• Workload Management: Monitor and prioritize conflicting workloads among team members to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Project Management: Demonstrate the ability to manage the entire engagement process, including timelines, client relationships, review processes, and project delivery.
• Resource Planning: Effectively plan resources and ensure team members are adequately briefed to deliver projects in line with RSM’s quality standards.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, especially the tax department, to ensure deadlines are met and issues are resolved promptly.
• Risk Management: Actively manage risks and maintain weekly client calls to foster strong working relationships with primary client contacts.
• Additional Duties: Carry out any other responsibilities within the scope of the role as requested.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

To be considered for this position, you should possess the following:

• Accounting Qualification: Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA).
• Financial Reporting Knowledge: Working experience with UK GAAP and financial reporting.
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of FRS 102 and FRS 105.
• Accounting Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or other cloud accounting platforms.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organization skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Accounts Preparation Software: Knowledge of CCH or similar professional accounts preparation software.
• Team Management Experience: Proven experience in managing and overseeing a team within financial services, including training, coaching, and performance management.
• Microsoft Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel.
• Client Relationship Building: Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Desirable Attributes

• Non-Profit Experience: Experience working with non-profit organizations.
• Data Analytics Knowledge: Understanding of data analytic tools such as Alteryx or Power BI.
• Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to client premises or other regional offices as required.
