About the Role:
As a Manager in our Accounting and Financial Reporting (AFR) team, you’ll play a key role in delivering top-tier financial reporting services to a wide range of clients. You will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring they receive expert guidance on statutory financial statements, GAAP advisory, and financial reporting support. You’ll work with clients from various industries, including retail, technology, manufacturing, and private equity-backed companies.
This role goes beyond managing clients—you’ll also support the growth of the AFR department by identifying new opportunities, providing technical advice, and mentoring junior team members. Your technical expertise in FRS 102, FRS 101, and IFRS will be crucial in providing exceptional service, and your leadership skills will be essential in developing your team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing the preparation of statutory financial statements and providing tailored financial reporting advice.
- Coordinate client engagements, determining resource needs, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and understanding their business needs.
- Supervise and review work completed by junior team members, offering guidance and feedback to support their development.
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102, FRS 101, and IFRS standards.
- Provide technical support to AFR Directors and Partners on complex issues such as acquisition accounting and share-based payments.
- Monitor project budgets and ensure timely billing and recovery of fees.
- Actively seek opportunities to cross-sell RSM’s services and identify new business opportunities.
- Lead recruitment efforts for the AFR team and mentor staff to support their career development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and client services.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Deliver high-quality service, meeting client expectations and deadlines.
- Achieve utilisation, profitability, and recovery targets on client projects.
- Increase client engagement, leading to new business and fee growth.
- Demonstrate leadership by supporting the professional development of junior staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
- ACA/ACCA qualified, with a minimum of three years post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK financial reporting standards (FRS 102, FRS 101, IFRS).
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients in a professional services environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Proficiency in accounting software and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to being present in the office at least three days a week to support team collaboration.
