Our Consulting team brings together diverse groups across Transactions, Risk & Consulting, ABA, and Outsourcing to offer tailored solutions for both current and future middle-market clients. With over 1,700 professionals contributing nearly £200 million in revenue, our team plays a crucial role in the firm’s growth.

We focus on six core solutions: business transformation, deal services, finance function support, risk and governance, forensic and investigation services, and restructuring. These solutions are designed to provide a customized approach, helping our clients reach their strategic objectives while empowering our staff to make a significant impact on their unique career paths.

Overall Job Purpose

As the Accounting and Financial Reporting Assistant Manager, your primary responsibility will be to assist managers in delivering profitable services across a portfolio of corporate clients. You will focus on complex financial reporting and consolidations while managing a small portfolio of corporate and not-for-profit clients.

A key aspect of your role will involve collaborating with your team to ensure the highest standards of client service at all times. This position is available in our Newcastle, Leeds, and Hull offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, consistently practicing exceptional client service principles.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee a small portfolio of corporate clients, ensuring adherence to internal budgets and addressing any significant issues identified during assignments with your team.
  • Assignment Planning: Plan assignments according to the firm’s standard procedures, confirming arrangements with clients, including expected costs and billing.
  • Team Development: Provide ongoing feedback and guidance to junior team members, helping them enhance their skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Continuously develop and maintain advanced technical knowledge through relevant reading and training, fulfilling CPD requirements and staying informed about the firm’s specialist services.
  • Assignment Execution: Ensure assignments are carried out in line with instructions, efficiently managing complex tasks according to the firm’s procedures.
  • Supervision and Training: Offer adequate briefing and training for junior staff, reviewing their work for quality and completeness.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your line manager, Head of Department, or partners, that align with the role’s scope.

Essential Qualifications

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Strong understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with complex consolidations.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness and ability to add value.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong people management abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of corporate taxation.
